Wilderness Hike & Picnic
About this meetup
Let's make the most of our time in Idaho and explore the beautiful hills around Boise! There are some great trails accessible from the downtown area with great views and picnic areas. The trails have good phone reception and transportation via Lyft to accommodate a variety of needs for time and accessibility. Hi, I'm Ryan! I'm hosting this meetup for some fun and recreation before the conference starts. Here's how it'll work. We'll meet, review the trail maps, coordinate a couple 8-minute Lyft rides into the hills, and walk the trails back to town. Last time we had about 16 people and it was a blast!

Beat Out Burnout Brainstorm

One great way to build relationships is by helping each other, and burnout is a struggle every creator faces at some point (or, uhm… constantly?) Let’s share with each other the things we’ve learned about burnout that we wish we’d known years ago! We’ll meet at the Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial (close to the Boise River Greenbelt) so you can check out the memorial while you’re there too!

Whitewater Rafting!

It's going to the edge of your comfort zone and getting beyond the question "so what do you do?" where genuine connection happens. So if you're a weirdo like me who gets lit up by this kind of adventure, let's do this! We'll be piling into a van together, driving an hour north of Boise into the mountains of Idaho, and rafting down the South Fork of the Payette River. (With a professional guide and all that jazz. It's a legit rafting company. You'll have a life jacket and gear and sign a waiver, etc. etc.) Approximate itinerary: Wednesday, June 5th - 8am: Meet outside of Treefort Music Hall (722 W Broad St. Boise ID) to drive up - 9am: Check in and start of our 3-hour rafting tour! (we'll be on the water for about 2-2.5 of those hours) - 12pm: Lunch in Horseshoe Bend - 3pm: Back in Boise with time to get ready and head to the opening party that evening

Sunrise hike

For early birds who want to see Boise from a new viewpoint. Meet at Hawkins Reserve Trailhead at 4:45am we’ll set out at 5am. About 2 hours, 5.7 miles, easy terrain on a very well maintained and highly scenic trail. See the sun rise over our gorgeous city and be back in time for a quick shower and change of clothes so we don’t miss the opening speaker.

Let’s go for a hike together! I’ve got a giant rental car so I can take 5 people. We’ll head out from the hotel at 5:30am & hike Cervidae Peak. It’s a 4.5 mile hike rated as hard.
